Mid shot of Combo and his flat, Banjo is wearing a white t-shirt and a leather wife beater with jeans. His outfit doesn't fit in as much as Combo's, who is wearing acid wash jeans with a clean white shirt buttoned to the top, making him appear more respectable than Banjo.
His flat doesn't appear as clean with a sheet hanging from the window. There is only a stool and a small table, his bed is very close to the floor and the group are all sitting on it. Combo has no comfort in his flat compared to other people in the group.
As the camera tilts down to the spit that Combo has wiped with his foot on the floor you can tell that he doesn't have respect for his house.

The audience is presented with combo's emotional insecurities when pukey questions how patriotic he his, "do you really believe in all that crap combo", Meadow's constucted this particular scene after the NF meeting to show the audiene the example combo is trying to set to hes gang. We know this because he uses the word 'troops' to describe sean and the gang when attacking pukey for asking the previous quote, this really shows the milatarised mind set that meadows has formulated the character of combo with. He thinks hes a leader, leading the gang to a better picture of 'England', when infact this is england and there isnt a new picture to be portraid, combo is forcing his ideologies on why his life isnt perfect on other characters.

The audience aren't shown the London O2 arena by a camera track that focus on the woman preparing with a bowl, this could be because Frears wants the audience to be aware that they are watching the film through the immigrant's experiences which excludes them from typical British landmarks. The woman is wearing her typical native clothing that emphasises the border between herself and Okwe as he dresses in clothes that would assimilate him with British life.

(2:09) Mise en Scene: The use of red to shroud Okwe from the IED officers when he rings Ivan for help suggests how he is desperately trying to flee the danger that they evoking not only for himself as an illegal immigrant bu also for Senay who is breaking her contract to being in the country, this could also highlight his compassionate feelings towards Senay through the colour red in the scene. This is juxtaposed by the next shots of Ivan and Juliet who have no passion and love between the two of them, the colour blue which suggests more calm feelings towards one another.
